Once Hermes opens, configure it for the work you actually want help with. Start small: one model provider, a few core tools, and a simple workflow you can test.

Choose a provider

Run the model picker or setup wizard:

Provider docs: Hermes model/provider setup. Common choices include OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Nous, DeepSeek, and custom endpoints.

Enable useful tools

For most personal assistants, useful early toolsets are web, file, terminal, browser, memory, cronjob, and skills. Enable more only when you have a reason.

Add memory and skills

Memory should store stable preferences and facts. Skills should store repeatable procedures. Together they help the assistant stop relearning the same things.
